Background
Under the Belgium-Mozambique Cooperation Programme, Enabel is implementing the Study, Expertise and Preparation Facility for Climate Resilience and Energy Transition (STEP Facility), a nationwide initiative that supports climate finance mobilisation, project preparation and institutional strengthening in Mozambique. The facility works closely with government institutions and strategic partners to develop bankable climate projects and unlock access to national and international climate finance.
To strengthen the implementation of this initiative, Enabel is seeking a Climate Finance Field Officer based in Maputo.
Job description
As Climate Finance Field Officer, you will support Mozambique’s efforts to mobilise climate finance and develop high-quality climate-resilient and low-carbon investment programmes. You will work closely with government institutions, development partners and technical experts to transform climate priorities into fundable initiatives.
Your main responsibilities will include:
- Supporting the identification, preparation and follow-up of climate finance initiatives and project proposals.
- Coordinating and monitoring studies, technical assistance assignments and project preparation activities funded by the STEP Facility.
- Providing technical support to public institutions on climate finance, project development and investment readiness.
- Facilitating collaboration between government institutions, development partners and other stakeholders.
- Supporting climate finance capacity-building activities and knowledge-sharing initiatives.
- Monitoring progress, reviewing deliverables and ensuring the quality of technical outputs.
- Contributing to the development of innovative climate finance solutions and investment opportunities.
Your profile
Required qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Management, Economics, Finance, Engineering, Development Studies, Environmental Sciences, Renewable Energy or a related field
Required experience
- At least 2 years of relevant professional experience in climate finance, resource mobilisation, project preparation or related areas.
- Experience working with government institutions and/or development programmes.
- Experience in project implementation, monitoring and reporting
Required skills and knowledge
- Solid understanding of climate finance and sustainable development challenges in Mozambique.
- Strong analytical, communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
- Experience in facilitating capacity-building activities and institutional support.
- Proficiency in MS Office and digital collaboration tools.
- Fluency in Portuguese and a good working knowledge of English..
