Background
Enabel in Rwanda is implementing projects funded by third parties (European Union and Luxemburg) in Health, Agriculture, Urbanisation, Forestry and the Regional teacher’s initiative in Africa
To ensure business continuity and user satisfaction by guaranteeing a secure, high-quality IT infrastructure, software updates and a timely support service for interventions, Enabel is currently looking for a Professional Intern in ICT (f/m).
Duty Station: Kigali, Country Office.
Contract duration: 6 months extendable once
Starting date: June 2026
Function:
Under the direct supervision of the Manager Finance and Contracts and a remote IT officer, the ICT Internee will provide support in ensuring availability of IT systems and Network throughout the working day in order to maintain business productivity and high user satisfaction.
The main tasks entrusted to the Professional Intern (f/m) are:
Responsibility 1: User Support:
• Provide level 1 and 2 technical supports to staff across all Enabel sites.
• Gather requirements and support the drafting of terms of reference for the acquisition of IT equipment for staff.
• Train staff on the use of specific IT tools or assist them for quick onboarding.
• Ensure that access rights for all users are well-defined and comply with standards.
• Diagnose and resolve (or get the right support) any software and hardware issues encountered by users on their workstations and mobile devices
• Support the remote IT officer to ensure the evolution of internal hardware and software solutions.
• Support the remote IT officer to implement IT policies/directives or develop them if they are absent.
Responsibility 2: Support for the IT Asset Management (Purchasing, Maintenance, Lifecycle):
• Support the Maintenance of Enabel's IT equipment (computers, networks, video conferencing equipment) in Rwanda.
• Ensure the technical reception of all IT equipment or resources and deploy them to users.
• Support the active Monitoring of IT network equipment to ensure service recovery within a short timeframe.
• Support the remote IT officer to undertake any other tasks aimed at improving the IT infrastructure and user experience.
Responsibility 3: Network Management:
• Support the remote IT office to Optimize the existing IT network to enhance performance.
• Support the remote IT office to Implement the security policy defined by Enabel's headquarters to ensure the integrity of data and equipment.
• Support the remote IT office to Monitor Enabel's IT network to ensure its functionality and availability for all system users.
• Support the remote IT officer to Install, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair all wired, wireless, and other network infrastructure.
• Stay informed to alert users about new cyberattack techniques.
Responsibility 4: Internal and External ICT Partnerships:
• Collaborate with the global community of IT Officers and other IT teams within Enabel.
• Keep a record of all Service Level Agreements between Enabel and IT service providers (IT maintenance services, Internet providers, software and hardware suppliers).
• Work directly with suppliers to plan repairs and maintenance.
• Request and evaluate the quality of services from suppliers and service providers.
Profile:
Required Qualification
• Rwandan Citizen;
• Age: maximum 25 years old
• Alumni of the University of Rwanda within 12 months of graduation.
• Bachelor or Master’s degree in computer sciences or a similar IT-related field. -
• Must have minimum 70% grade (2nd upper division or equivalent).
Skills and Knowledge:
• Proficiency in network protocols, IP, DNS, Firewall, cloud computing, etc.
• Strong knowledge of the Office 365 suite.
• Experience in maintaining IT equipment.
• Knowledge of digital project management methodologies and processes.
• Ability to work under pressure and in a team, with flexibility.
• Autonomous, proactive, capable of taking initiative and innovating.
• Versatile profile with a strong ability to make proposals.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and Kinyarwanda,
• Ability to organize and facilitate training sessions
• Experience in administering Azure AD (Entra) is an asset.
• Knowledge of Intune is an asset.
• Knowledge of French is an asset.
• Skilled at solving problems and adopt a solution- and results-oriented approach.
• Exhibit excellent capacity to build good collaboration relationships with different clients
• Respect others and is able to build relations on the basis of credibility and expertise.
• Show engagement, sense of responsibility and integrity.
• Flexible and can work in a changing environment.
• Ability to contribute effectively to a collaborative governance framework by taking ownership, being accountable, and communicating honestly and transparently.
